Renae Ross is a teacher turned nanny in the process of creating a life change after ending an abusive marriage and grueling divorce. Her experience of surrendering to Jesus after years of an abusive marriage offers a clear path to a life of freedom and peace. Ross makes the point in her new book, But He Never Hit Me, that no spouse should have to endure continual abuse of any kind. Her steps to a better life are faith-filled and promising. 

Ross grew up in a small rural town in northern Michigan. After completing college at Northern Michigan University, she moved to Wisconsin, where she raised four children and worked as a teacher for 23 years, continuing her education at Walden University where she received a Master’s Degree in Elementary Education. Most of her time was spent in the elementary classroom, with seven of those years teaching high school Spanish. 

Following her divorce, she made a geographical and job change, pursuing a nanny position during which time she studied Christian yoga through YogaFaith University. She received her certification for 12-step yoga and trauma-sensitive yoga and is pursuing further certification in prison ministry. Ross has a Christian Yoga business via Facebook called Magnolia Yoga of YogaFaith. Through this platform, along with yoga, she gives mini-lessons about healing from the effects of abuse, her journey of understanding abuse, and how to educate oneself to create healthful changes. Her own experience “…enables her to be an empathetic listener and an ongoing encourager, supporting a struggling traveler.” 

Ross has been actively involved in 12-step recovery and has shared her testimony among its members. She is passionate about encouraging people to work on their healing and escaping toxic situations. Presently, she is helping to organize outreach programs to help families who suffer from another’s addiction, including taking ministry programs into prisons.

Ross writes, “But He Never Hit Me, is a revolutionary guide for Christian women trapped in abusive marriages.” With raw honesty and unwavering faith, Ross tackles the taboo, offering a roadmap to liberation from emotional, verbal, or sexual abuse.
