A Troll in the Forest

By Sharon Vander Meer

The troll, trolled through the river wide
looking for a place to hide.

A gentle soul this giant troll
looking for a place to rest his weary soul.

His aging skin and bitter smell
made hiding a near impossible travail.

Let me be, he moaned into the river stones
I just want to be me; enchanted witch please me free.

The witch twitched and cackled loud
as the troll was carried away and disappeared into a cloud.
