Encounter on a Rocky Mount
By Jock Jacober
I am trapped by her eyes, amber
refracted landscape.
our long eyes looking into two-legged life
we had learned no hunger
we see near and far
I am shrouded in zoo apparel.
She is not naked.
against the sun unaware
a form shadow leaning
our ears full of its presence
To the ledge lower
cougar glides.
we are clothed in sky
its place is not here
we will surrender
Yielding me space.
Her tawny sinew touching
the wind slides away.
