Renae Ross is a teacher by trade, turned nanny in the process of creating a life-change after ending an abusive marriage and grueling divorce that prompted this book. Her real-life experience of surrendering to Jesus after years of enduring an abusive marriage offers a clear path to a life of freedom and peace. No spouse should have to endure continual abuse of any kind, and Renae’s steps to a better life are faith-filled and promising. Renae grew up in a small rural town in northern Michigan.

After completing college at Northern Michigan University, she moved to Wisconsin, where she raised four children and worked a teaching career. She spent 23 years teaching. During this time, she studied at Walden University and received a Master’s in Elementary Education. Most of her time was spent in the elementary classroom, with seven of those years teaching high school Spanish. Post-divorce she made a geographical and job change. Recognizing the need to create a new life for herself, away from the abuse, she pursued a nanny position. She also studied Christian yoga through YogaFaith University. She has received her certification for 12-step yoga and trauma-sensitive yoga and is pursuing further certification in prison ministry.

She has started a Christian Yoga business via Facebook called Magnolia Yoga of YogaFaith. Through this platform, along with yoga, she also gives mini-lessons about healing from the effects of abuse, her journey of understanding abuse, and how to educate oneself to create healthful changes. Her own real-life experience enables her to be an empathetic listener and an ongoing encourager, supporting a struggling traveler. Renae has been actively involved in 12-step recovery and has shared her testimony among its members. She is passionate about encouraging people to work on their healing and escaping toxic situations. Presently, she is helping to organize outreach programs to help families who suffer from another’s addiction, including taking ministry programs into prisons.
